OFI will be in search of a new coach after the club announced the departure of Jaime Vera. The Cretans were forced to part ways with the Chilean manager after the club was informed that Vera’a current coaching diploma will not be recognized by UEFA.

Giannis Samaras will be the interim manager until the Heraklion based club appoints a new boss. The club will sort out the final details to terminate Vera’s contract and will begin their search for his replacement on Monday. OFI’s preseason training will also start on Monday.

OFI released an official statement on Saturday:

“FC OFI 1925 was officially informed by the EPO regarding UEFA’s decision to not recognize the coaching diploma of Jaime Vera.”

Vera and Hisis joined OFI in January and helped the club maintain their place in the Super League. The Cretan side finished 13th in the Super League standings and beat out local rivals, Platanias, in the Super League promotion/relegation playoff in May.
