OFI broke the deadlock within five minutes. Lurking inside the penalty area, Deligiannidis was ignored by the entire Panathinaikos defence, firing an instant effort beyond the outstretched Sokratis Dioudis.

Seven minutes later, Panathinaikos came close to an equaliser, however Anastasios Chatzigiovannis failed to connect with a deflected cross across the face of goal.

Nevertheless, the Athenians got back on level terms with the first half approaching its latter stages. On the counterattack, a searching cross from Emanuel Insua escaped the attentions of the OFI back line, and Kace sent a diving header into the left corner.

It looked as though the teams would enter half time level, but OFI had other ideas, as Platellas handed the Cretans their second lead of the match. Presented with a shooting opportunity outside of the box, Platellas tried his luck, with the ball sneaking under Dioudis.

The match was practically over as a contest on the hour mark. Off balance, Korovesis managed to unleash a weak shot on goal, and his effort fooled Dioudis and rolled over the line.

Panathinaikos pressed for a comeback in the remaining 30 minutes, but OFI held on to record their second win of the season. It’s Panathinaikos’ second defeat in the current Super League campaign.
