Aris fought back from a goal down to clinch a late 3-1 win over strugglers OFI Crete, damaging the Heraklion club’s survival hopes in the process.

OFI, who occupy the last relegation place in 14th, took the lead through Ricardo Vaz after 26 minutes at the Kleanthis Vikelidis stadium in Thessaloniki.

The Cretan side kept Aris at bay for long spells but their defence finally crumbled in the 75th minute when Lindsay Rose found the target.

Then came some late drama with further goals from Javier Matilla a minute from time and Nicolas Martinez in the fourth minute of added time sealing a superb comeback victory for Savvas Pantelidis’ men.

The result saw Aris extend their lead in fifth place over sixth-placed Panetolikos to 10 points with four games left, meaning that the Thessaloniki club have all but wrapped up the final European place.

For OFI the situation is not so bright, as Jaime Vera’s men are now four points adrift of safety following PAS Giannina’s 2-0 win at Levadiakos on Saturday.
