Ricardo Vaz scored the only goal of the game as OFI Crete clinched a vital 1-0 home victory over relegation rivals PAS Giannina on Saturday to boost their chances of SuperLeague survival.
The Portuguese forward struck after 20 minutes, beating PAS goalkeeper Markos Vellidis with a deflected shot to seal three precious points for Jaime Vera’s side, who are still in the bottom three but climbed to within a single point of PAS who are above them.
It was a deserved win for the Cretans in Irakleio, as they had enjoyed the lion’s share of possession as well as scoring chances. OFI almost made it 2-0 in added time but Patrick Vouho was denied by the post.
With just three games to play both PAS and OFI still have everything to play for as they look to secure their top flight status.
