Hamza Younés scored twice in added time as an astonishing finish to Aris’ Matchday 11 clash against OFI ended in a superb 2-1 win for the Salonica club at the Theodoros Vardinogiannis Stadium.

Younés netted in the 93rd and 94th minutes in Heraklion to cancel out Ismail Sassi’s 77th-minute strike for the home side, who had looked odds on to claim what would have been only their second win of the season.

Sassi’s strike came after Aris had hit the woodwork twice in the second-half through Younés and Mateo Garcia, but the men from Salonica refused to give up and their late efforts reaped dividends for newly-appointed coach Savvas Pantelidis.

The result propels Aris up once place to sixth with 18 points, while OFI remain second from bottom with just seven points to show from 11 matches.

After a goalless first half which was low on quality as well as scoring chances, the crucial breakthrough came with 13 minutes left, when a left-wing cross from Vangelis Platellas picked out the unmarked Sassi, who did not need a second invitation to plant a header past the helpless Julian Cuesta in the Aris goal.

Aris lay siege to the OFI goal in search of an equaliser as the clock ticked down, and not only did they get on level terms when Younés rammed home the rebound after his initial shot hit the woodwork - again!

OFI’s players looked crestfallen after conceding so late, and unfortunately they let their guard down again within 78 seconds as Younés rose highest to head home the winner and complete a amazing comeback - the perfect tonic for new coach Pantelidis on his debut.
