With only three rounds remaining in the regular season, the fight for the Super League championship playoffs is increasing, as seven clubs continue to battle for sixth place.
This year, the fate of the Super League will be decided after the regular season, with teams in the leading six positions qualifying for the championship playoffs while clubs between seventh and 14th move down into the relegation playouts. Predictably, Olympiacos, PAOK, AEK, Panathinaikos and Aris are sure to be in the playoffs, but sixth position is certainly up for grabs.
At this moment in time, OFI currently hold sixth place, but Xanthi possess the exact same amount of points - 28 - in seventh. Not far behind, Atromitos, Asteras Tripolis, AE Larissa and Volos incredibly all have 26 points on the board, while Lamia are also still in realistic contention with 25 points to their name. 13th-placed Panetolikos, in stark contrast, only hold 14 points after 23 games. Panionios, hit by a six-point deduction, are languishing in last position with relegation looking increasingly likely.
Glancing at the schedule, sixth place is practically certain to be decided on the final matchday of the regular season, with OFI hosting Lamia and AEL welcoming Asteras Tripolis to Larissa. For their part, Volos travel to Panathinaikos, Xanthi will play against reigning champions PAOK at home and Atromitos make the tricky trip to Aris.
All teams in the championship round will play 10 games, competing against each other twice. Points earned in the regular season will carry over into the playoffs.
