Following Olympiacos’ draw, PAOK moved into first place of the Super League with a thrashing of Atromitos at home, while AEK slipped up at Lamia and Panetolikos finally claimed their maiden victory.

Olympiacos have blinked first in the title race. On Sunday, the Erythrolefki were expected to take all three points away from Volos, but they were held to a frustrating 0:0 draw by their battling hosts. In the first half, Hillal Soudani thought he had given Olympiacos the lead, however his goal was controversially disallowed for offside. Youssef El Arabi came the closest to scoring for the visitors when he could only smack the woodwork from close range.

Sensing blood, PAOK subsequently took full advantage of the chance to move two points clear at the top of the table, thrashing sorry Atromitos 5-1 at the Toumba Stadium thanks to goals from Vieirinha, Sverrir Ingi Ingason (2), Karol Swiderski and Josip Misic. As a result of the emphatic win, the Dikefalos tou Vorra are now two points clear of second-placed Olympiacos, while Atromitos find themselves languishing in ninth position.

Previously, Massimo Carrera had made a perfect start to life at the AEK helm with two victories, however, the mini winning streak came to an end on Saturday with a dour 0-0 draw at Lamia. AEK, although they remain in third place of the Super League, are now a huge 12 points behind leaders PAOK with only 16 matches having been played. Lamia are 10th with 19 points on the board.

Panetolikos, who incredibly didn’t win any of their first 15 games, eventually tasted the winning feeling for the first time this season, defeating OFI 2-0 in Agrinio as Frederico Duarte Admir Bajrovic - with a penalty - hit the target in rain-soaked conditions. Earlier on Sunday, Panionios had conceded a 2-0 loss to AE Larissa, meaning that Panetolikos have now climbed off the foot of the standings. OFI remain fourth.

Putting on a show for their fans, Asteras scored five goals in a confident 5-0 beating of struggling Xanthi, while Panathinaikos and Aris, both locked on 22 points each, played to a 0-0 draw in Athens.

Player of the Week: Sverrir Ingi Ingason (PAOK)

Ingason has fully found his feet at PAOK. Playing with confidence, the Icelandic defender once again played a crucial role for PAOK, scoring twice against Atromitos at the Toumba Stadium, with his second marker proving to be the winner. Ingason, 26, has now scored four goals in the 2019/2020 Super League.

Goal of the Week: Luis Fernandez (Asteras Tripolis)

Bursting past his marker on the right flank, Eneko Capilla controlled the ball well, found the onrushing Luis Fernandez with an intelligent cross-field pass, and the latter calmly stroked his ensuing effort beyond the Xanthi goalkeeper to put the game beyond the reach of the away team in Tripoli. A wonderful move.
