It has been a long time coming -16 matches in fact - but Panetoikos finally gave their fans three points to cheer with a solid display against OFI Crete which brought them a 2-0 victory over the Heraklion club.
After a goalless first half at the Panetolikos Municipal Stadium, Frederico Duarte put the hosts 1-0 up in the 78th minute, sending the home fans in frenzied celebrations, which got even better when Admir Bajrovic doubled the advantage from the penalty spot five minutes from time.
The win lifted Panetolikos off the bottom of the table into 13th place with eight points, and sent Panionios, who have just six points, to the bottom. OFI remain fourth with 23 points.
